He has hosted two group exhibitions; ‘Last Weeks Drawings’ and ‘Faces, Moons, Spoons, Clouds and Shoes’ and exhibited in others. I’m fascinated by paint and think of painting like a kind of alchemy. I paint people and objects that are close to me, they are my cue into the painting process. The process is where the focus of my practice lies, the finished picture becomes a souvenir to the experience of observation and reaction, painting is like a conversation with the physical object that I trust in. The subsequent painting becomes a record of that time spent looking and reacting and what is unique is all the different ways you react, at times with care and observantly and at others carelessly but it’s all an honest record of your interaction which should catch a likeness of oneself. I have to enjoy it too. I hope this is transparent in the work and always want my images to be that of the physical paint and the real world they represent simultaneously, a balance I am constantly thinking about.
